Let’s spend a Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the end of June in the silver studio! This class is a weekend workshop, curated for those who want to learn simple stone setting skills. We will each design and construct a simple bezel-set piece of sterling silver jewelry (you choose between a ring or pendant).
DESCRIPTION:
This weekend-long workshop is meant for those who want to learn how to set stones, how to customize their own jewelry designs, or refine their stone setting skills. No previous silversmithing experience is required, but it helps! The more you know, the more you can make.
LOCATION:
535 W. Deer Drive, Unit #513, downstairs!
CLASS DETAILS:
In this workshop, students will learn how to make a simple bezel setting for a piece of jewelry. We will build a strong foundation for learning the tools, equipment, and safety, as well as the basics of fabrication and stone setting. Skills include: sawing, filing, sanding, texturing, soldering, stone setting, polishing and more!
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
Materials for one basic stone setting project per student: milled sterling silver wire and sheet, cabochon stone & consumables (sandpaper, polishing compound, saw blades, etc.) Students are welcome to bring their own stones, or purchase higher quality stones at the studio. Personal protective equipment (PPE) provided.
WHAT TO BRING:
Water bottle (we have a refill station)
Notebook
Mug for tea
Some snacks, seltzer and tea will be available during class, feel free to bring your own!
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Closed toe shoes (boots/sneakers are okay, leather shoes preferred)
Natural fiber clothing (denim, cotton, etc)
No loose clothing
Hair must be tied back
Jewelry must be removed
Safety glasses must be worn (provided)
Age 18+
